Linux is open-source operating system. It is built
upon the Linux kernel (core part of the
operating system) which
was first released in 1991 by Linus Torvalds, a student from
the
University of Helsinki, Finland.
Kernel bridge between the computer hardware and software
applications, managing
resource (CPU, RAM, I/O Devices).
Versions are called distributions or in short
form distros.
Two major types of Linux distributions are:
