RMAN (Recovery Manager) is a tool for Oracle
Database, which is used for database backup, restore and recovery.

Full Backup – Complete database backup

Incremental Backup – Only changed blocks
since last backup

Archivelog Backup – Backup of archive
logs
Ãœ Controlfile & SPFILE Backup – Backup of critical database files
🔹 Production Backup Recommendation:

Daily Incremental (Level 1)

Weekly Full (Level 0) - Usually on Friday or
Saturday night

Frequent (Hourly or every 2–3 hours) Archivelog

Controlfile & SPFILE Auto Backup

Retention Policy (A retention policy should be
set to automatically delete old backups (for example, keeping backups for 7
days or retaining the last 3 backups))

Regular Recovery Test (Test recovery (restore +
recover) must be performed regularly; otherwise, the backups may not be useful
in case of a disaster)
